Thank you for visiting my website!

Let me try to address some questions you may have.

What is Vintage Improvisation Detroit all about?

We use the principles, skills and mindsets of improvisational theater (the type of theater where the actors make things up on the spot) but we apply what we know in non-theatrical settings, with people who are non-actors. I call it Playing on Purpose.

My favorite people to work with include seniors and the healthcare teams that take care of them.

What experience do I bring to you?

  • I love older adults- and I happen to qualify as one myself!

  • I have a Masters degree in Adult Instruction and Performance Improvement.

  • I'm an improvisational theater performer, facilitator and enthusiast - plus

  • I have a wide range of experience working in senior services, business and healthcare.

"Paula's positive and uplifting energy is contagious to anyone she is in the room with. Paula knows how to build and lift up any type of audience despite any circumstances.I highly recommend Paula to anyone who is looking for a fun, energetic, unpredictable, & lively improv performance."

- Stacey S., Life Enrichment Director

Have you ever watched actors play short improvisation games on stage or on TV?

Each game requires the actors to ‘think on their feet’ and truly embrace whatever is being created spontaneously with their scene partner in many different and challenging ways.

Why am I mentioning this? As an actor, trainer and champion of older adults and the people who care for them, I specialize in adapting some of these same improvisation games for my non-actor audiences in senior living communities to produce a variety of positive outcomes, such as:

  • Personal development,

  • Relationship-building,

  • Collaboration,

  • Appreciation for each other

  • and Resilience - to name a few.

“[What I want Paula to know is] This was the most enjoyable day I’ve had in a long time!”

- Thelma, Rochester Hills

Who might benefit from this type of program experience?

  • Life Enrichment Directors who are seeking a unique brand of senior entertainment to engage their community

  • Older adults looking for meaningful, interactive life enrichment opportunities

  • Department supervisors who are searching for ways to inspire and rebuild a resilient healthcare work team

  • AND Healthcare workers who are looking for reasons to remain committed to their chosen profession -and their co-workers

If you have another group in mind - let's talk about it!

“I am so happy that everyone absolutely LOVED your presentation yesterday! I am loving all of the comments! We will definitely have you back.”
